About:

Life Stage, is a type of event that has emerged over a long process of experimental exposition/festivals. These personal projects were approached from my perception of a living theater. In 1998 I formed Student Aspirations. Bringing students and teachers from every college in San Diego together for a three-day scholarship fund raising exposition, portfolio and educational workshop. In just under three months I was able to raise over six thousand dollars in scholarships, services, and materials. Since then, I have had a number of successes with projects involving various communities and artists in San Diego, Los Angeles, and San Francisco. Providing very unique venues involving hundreds of interdisciplinary artists and individuals. Thanks to the visionary support of various businesses and organizations. Such as Sushi Performance and Visual Art, Beyond Baroque Literary Arts Center, LA Theater Works, Insite 2000, The World Beat Cultural Center, RIQ Gallery, Giorgio Santini Gallery, Motel 6, The Travelodge, Eastlake High School and the Ruth Chapman Theater, The Beerness (SF), and numerous universities in California.

Overall Concept:

Life Stage Expositions have emerged from the concept of a "living theater". Each individual project, embodies its own concept and character: A preconceived, coordinated, and choreographed time and space, in which all individuals and their exhibited documentation, as well as the "life" issues they introduce, are viewed in terms of art & theater. In this context, various actions and reactions are generated. Thus, the identity of art, artist, and audience is blurred. In this endeavor, I hope to tap into the creative source (I call "tra") that fuels ideas, invention, action and what some might designate as art. All individuals (including the audience) and their work, are not only actors, but an essential ingredient on this stage. They are literally defining its outcome! A kind of anarchy if you will, in which an environment (blank canvas) is created with the goal of providing unrestrained freedom of expression. The individuals themselves must set their own boundaries within the construct of the given environment. Thus, generating responses that embody order and chaos, kitsch and the avant garde, the objective and subjective. This is what determines the ultimate social productivity of a Life Stage event.
