This exposition was a roaming creative lab and exhibition concept. I initially selected a number of artists in various disciplines as a foundation for these events. The Lab, as all other Life Stage events, invited open participation and collaboration with all who came. The Lab included film & video screenings, installation, performance art, music, painting, drawing, photography and much more. (See Itinerary)
Scheduled artists chose two bodies of work: One, for their segment of the roaming exhibition.
The second body of work was to be shown in the back room for 20 minutes on Friday, August 17.
"20-Minute Revolution": A narrator was to read the artist's statement as their work was installed/hung. After the artist installed their work, it was to be shown exclusively for a 20-minute revolution. Once this cycle was complete, the work is then removed and a new artist presented their work.
This event truly took on a life of it's own!
Artists and audience alike were invited to participate and share in this event. Within and without the various urban sites, powerful dynamics were formed! This was inevitable based on the combined interaction and responses to the Lab installments, artists, audience and people just passing by. It is unfortunate that the final stages overlapped the tragedy of 911. However, this was indeed an environment for thoughtful reflection, dialogue and fellowship.
