Problem: Education - No Child Left Behind: 08/06/09

Mandated curriculum by the federal government is destroying individuality and freedom of expression.

Solution: Reform No Child Left Behind and eliminate unnecessary testing to allow more teaching.  Eliminate government benchmarks.  Use testing that measures growth not proficiency.

Perspective: I am a school teacher/artist.

Problem: Education - Pledge of Allegiance 11/12/09
BEING forced to say pledge of allegiance in the classroom
Solution: I think the solution to this problem is for teachers to decide whether they want their kids to say it or not. Even though there was a supreme court decision I believe the solution is that the teacher can decide what they want in this classroom.
Perspective: Personal experience that i have experienced in the classroom when our teachers tells us we need to stand up and say it. we listen because we respect our teacher.

Problem: Education 11/12/09
There is not enough funding or emphasis put on high school education, especially in California. Budget cuts are hurting the level of education in California public schools.
Solution: The state government should cut unnecessary spending. For example the state of California should not have paid for Michael jackson's funeral. Also, public school district officials should take a pay cut so that more money can go to school funding.

Problem: Education (It puts the lotion on the skin or else we gets the hose again!) 11/12/09
The education system has long been teaching the same topics and information that has all occurred in the past or methods that society does not really need. For example when am i going to need to know the periodic table and what element does what and what the atomic mass is or how many electrons they each have. And history teaches old things in time like wars that lasted a few minutes or hours but they should be teaching us current events that are actually taking place in our time like how the economy is down, terrorist attacks, getting people out of foreign countries.
Solution: Schools should teach things that people are actually going to need or need to know. such as basic algebra instead of angles and degrees. I personally don't plan on being a construction worker but for those who want to be one should take a class on it. so the education should teach current events.
Perspective: Personal experience would be that something is going on in the economy that i don't know about. i would like to but hey theres no one to tell me or teach me about these current events.
